Military and Government Knowledge – U.S. History, Leadership, and Customs Practice Exam

The Commandant of the Marine Corps is the highest-ranking officer in the Marine Corps, responsible for leading the force, determining readiness and training, and serving as the senior military adviser to the Secretary of the Navy. In this list, General Eric M. Smith is the person who holds that role, so he is the best answer. The other names refer to different roles or people: the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps is the top enlisted advisor, not the Commandant; Francis Scott Key was a poet from U.S. history; the Master Chief Petty Officer is a Navy enlisted leadership position, not Marine Corps.
